 Our
Educational Philosophy:
We strive to create safe, nurturing, child centered
environments that are age appropriate. We are concerned
with all aspects of a child's development : emotional,
social, physical, cognitive and creative. Our aim is for
each child to gain a positive self-image, to encourage
independence and to stimulate the child's enormous
capacity to learn during these special preschool years. |
The
Curriculum:
Children are encouraged to discover and to develop
skills which are the prerequisites for competence in
reading, math, science, music, the creative arts and
communication. Days are carefully organized into a
creative mix of play and work, of structure and
independent activities. An art center, block center and
manipulative toys as well as non-structured materials
are used. |

Facilities:
Our school is located on the first level of the
Scarsdale Community Baptist Church educational building
which is just two blocks east of the Scarsdale railroad
station. We are located adjacent to the village's Chase
Park and across the street from Crane Park. Sunny,
spacious classrooms are brightly decorated and equipped.
An outdoor play area contains a new, modern play
structure and a large selection of riding toy and sand
area. An indoor playroom is equipped for a wide variety
of physical play. Our location makes a range of class
trips available. |
Staff:
Our program is administered and led by the
Director, Elaine Ferraro, Ms.Ed., who is trained in
Early Childhood Education and experienced in her field.
All teachers are qualified by education, certification
and experience and are members of the Westchester
Association for the Education of Young Children (WAEYC).
All staff members regularly participate in continuing
education programs in early childhood education. |

Programs:
The primary school year operates on the same calendar as
the Scarsdale Public Schools from 9:00 am to 11:30 am
for three year olds, and 9:00 am to 11:40 am for four
year olds. Three year olds may attend either three or
five mornings per week, and four year olds attend the
Pre-K program for five mornings a week.
Admission, Tuition and Fees: (for 2009-2010)
$3400 per year for three mornings a week
$4300 per year for five mornings per week.
(A $250 non-refundable deposit
is applied toward tuition at the time of registration.
Applications are considered for children who turn three
years old by December 31 of that year.)

Camp:
A six-week Summer Camp runs from mid June
through July for children between the ages of three and
five. The camp program includes music, creative
movement, rhythm instruments and arts and crafts. Our
large playground and yard equipment help foster gross
motor activities. Water play, spinklers, special themes
and projects add enrichment, fun and adventure. When it
is too hot, we enjoy our air-conditioned classrooms! |
