Our Music Ministry
Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal
Sundays at 9:30 a.m. & 11:45 a.m. following worship. An extended rehearsal is usually held on the first Sunday of each month.
Music has always been a very important part of worship at SCBC. The Sanctuary Choir provides music for most Sunday services from September through May, augmented by professional soloists for most of the year and on summer Sundays. The first and most important priority for music is as a part of our worship experiences.
A children's choir sings several times during the year and rehearses on many Sunday mornings prior to Sunday Church School. The Children's Choir Director, Mary Ellen Barbieri, is a professional music educator and therapist, and is noted for gaining the highest possible quality of performance from a widely diverse group of children by her skill and enthusiasm.
Our Organist/Choir Director, David Jutt, conducts the Sanctuary Choir and demonstrates his mastery of both piano and organ by providing service music, accompaniment and direction.
Volunteer musicians, from within the congregation and community, some with professional training, frequently provide music in great variety and diversity. Also, professional musicians utilize our sanctuary as a beautiful recital space.
The church sponsors afternoon or evening concerts ranging from classical to jazz each year. In addition, the church is the host site for several weekday sessions of the Hoff Bartelson music education program.
The choirs are eager for new members and volunteer performers are welcomed. There is a place for you in music at SCBC! Please complete the form below if you are interested in becoming a member of the SCBC Choir.
